Buffalo Township Police Department

 In case of emergency, call 911!

The police department is located inside the Municipal Building.

The Chief of Police is Timothy Derringer.  There are 6 full time officers and 5 part time officers.

For non emergencies please call 724-295-9500.

 

Volunteer Fire Departments
The Buffalo Township Supervisors have designated Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company and Sarver Volunteer Fire Company as the Fire Departments that provide emergency service for Buffalo Township. Both departments work together to provide emergency service for residents of Buffalo Township through Butler County 911.
These fire departments operate through a volunteer force and are always in need of new individuals willing to serve their community. If interested please contact the stations. Ask yourself: if not you, then who?

Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company
BTVFC is located in the northeastern part of the township just off Route 356 along Sarver Road. It is next to the Sarver Trail Head on the Butler-Freeport Community Trail.

Sarver Volunteer Fire Company
SVFC is located in the southwestern part of the township just off of Ekastown Road on Elliott Road.

Freeport Volunteer Fire Department
FVFD supports the residents of Buffalo Township by assisting Buffalo Township VFC and Sarver VFC as requested. Organized in 1916, Freeport VFD remains committed to serving the residents of Freeport and surrounding communities.

Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company
SVFC supports the residents of Buffalo Township by assisting Buffalo Township VFC and Sarver VFC as requested.

Winfield Volunteer Fire Company
WVFC supports the residents of Buffalo Township by assisting Buffalo Township VFC and Sarver VFC as requested.

Herman Volunteer Fire Company
HVFC supports the residents of Buffalo Township by assisting Buffalo Township VFC and Sarver VFC as requested.

South Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department
SBVFC supports the residents of Buffalo Township by assisting Buffalo Township VFC and Sarver VFC as requested.

Fawn Township Volunteer Fire Department
FTVFC supports the residents of Buffalo Township by assisting Buffalo Township VFC and Sarver VFC as requested.

EMS
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) 

The Buffalo Township Supervisors have designated Freeport EMS and Saxonburg EMS as the Emergency Medical Service providers for Buffalo Township. Both services work together to provide emergency service for residents of Buffalo Township through Butler County 911.

Freeport EMS
Freeport EMS is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as an Advanced Life Support Ambulance and has two ALS ambulances available to serve the residents of Buffalo Township. Organized in 1941, Freeport EMS continues to innovate with the latest technology to assure that Paramedics are available to serve the residents of Freeport and surrounding communities.

Saxonburg EMS
Saxonburg’s Ambulance responds to approximately 2500 emergency medical calls annually. They cover approximately 75 square miles in Jefferson Township, Clinton Township, Winfield Township, Buffalo Township, and Saxonburg Borough. They operate three, fully-equipped Advanced Life Support ambulances and offer mutual aid assistance to the areas of Northern Allegheny County and southern Butler County.

Buffalo Township Road Department

Buffalo Township’s Road Department is proudly served by a five man crew all living in Buffalo Township.  All five men have a combined 50 years of experience working on township roads.  We are proud to say in Buffalo Township that we have the best maintained roads in Western Pennsylvania!

Roger A. Kelly Appointed to 1 year term

Roger Kelly has been the Zoning Officer of Buffalo Township since 1980. He is a life long resident of Buffalo Township and has had the pleasure of raising his two daughters in the rural beauty of this area. His responsibilities as Zoning Officer include the enforcement of the existing Zoning Ordinance, processing and issuing building permits and providing information to the residents of the township regarding zoning questions or concerns. The position of Zoning Officer is a part time position.  Should you have questions regarding zoning issues, please call 724-831-8913. Your call if not answered, will be returned as quickly as possible.

Building Inspector

Code.sysTMCode Consulting, Inc. has the ability to provide complete inspection services and construction document review in accordance with the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC), and Buffalo Township’s local ordinances.Code.sysTMCode Consulting, Inc. founded in December, 1996 can offer over 35 years of municipal experience in the development and management of building inspection departments under the direction of its managerial staff. It is their belief that it is necessary to put together a building inspection department team that is highly skilled and professional without losing the idea that the team must be customer service oriented.
